Glads usually bloom anywhere from 60 - 100 days after planting depending on location. Southern Cal should be on the shorter side of that.
Caladium is showy starting in July. (Callidium is an insect)
Begonias depends on which kind you have. Tuberous Begonias bloom in early Summer (June or thereabouts)

Cherry blooming
The beautiful cherrytree was blooming in Kungsträdgården, Stockholm. This year the blooming was only for seven days. Just have to wait another year to capture the fantastic tree again.
Enjoy!
