a flowering plant gains a way in which to become fertillised or spread its pollen to plants further away. Pollinators such as bees are firstly attracted by colour and scent of the flower. And they gain nectar, a high sugar liquid produced by the flower.

This plant, a shrub/bush about 3 meters/yards tall, grows in a neighbor's yard. I believe that this is Hibiscus syriacus.

The flowers are actually lavender, not this dark. I love opening flower buds. They are intense, and full of promise, if not so showy as the flowers.
