How much would it cost to grow a flower garden?

a round garden, with a diameter of approximately 6 1/2 yards? rose bushes around the perimeter and other non-specific flowers some places in the area. how expensive might this be?

18 rose bushes at $ 25 each +compost etc to amend the soil.
Perennials at $ 5-10 each depending on type size and quantity
Annuals from seed or purchased as starter plants in flats $ 15 per flat for 12 plants

Mulch at a depth of 2" to fill in the spaces, keep weeds down, improve the look

Material for paths between the beds or mower to cut the grassy paths left between beds

Garden hose, trowel, shovel, rake, edging.....
If you have this professionally done, there is plant purchase, mark up, transport, labor....you could easily spend several thousand, depending on where you live.
If you plan it and develop it yourself over time with cuttings taken from existing plants and roses purchased slowly or on sale, you might do it for a few hundred, again depending on location

Garden

It was the last day of term, so I celebrated by having a moth session. Wonderful being up into the small hours during the week and not having to get up early for work.

This Pebble Hook-tip, Drepana falcataria, was a highlight and was a new garden record (and there were two of them!). Other nice ones to see were Scalloped Hook-tip, Olive and Fen Wainscot (all new for the garden).
