Heliconia caribaea is called Prince of Darkness because Growing about 16' ( 4.80 m ) high in full sun to light shade. Inflorescence consisting of 5 to 11 bracts. Bracts are red at base with thin yellow area along lip proximally. Red shading to dark red and almost black towards tip. Lower bract often green with some dark red at base. Dark colored areas on bracts become increasingly dark with age.
