Should I trim my Rose of Sharon plants a month before they bloom?

My Rose of Sharon plants need to be trimmed, but it's only a month before they bloom. If I trim them now, will I damage them?

If you don't want any flowers this year, go ahead. Otherwise wait until after they are finished blooming. If you cut the flower buds off, they will not make more this season = no flowers.
