do sunflowers grow back their petals?

one of my parents bought some sunflowers and i transplanted them about a week ago and now they are dying. i HIGHLY doubt from transplant shock as i tranplanted in the garage. i was wondering will the petals grow back or is it dying?

they are extremely small as well but i can understand that it was 3 flowers in a pot and root bound when i saw it.

No, they don't grow their "petals" back. The flower of a sunflower is actually many individual flowers........called an inflorescence. The outer flowers on the sunflower are the ray flowers or florets and can be yellow, maroon, orange, or other colors. These flowers are sterile. The flowers that fill the circular head inside the ray flowers are called disc florets.
