I have a north facing front garden in which i want to create a low maintanance meditteranian style garden?

I need some information as to which plants and flowers are good for this type of garden. I would like a nice variety of colour and smells with little maintenance if this is possible?

I very mush like the date palm so i want this in the middle of an almost square garden.

I took a look on your question about if YA was working and I felt a little bad so I wanted to help (i'm studying interior design)....

Mediterranian style is about the power of the sun...you have to make that space warm...

The main hard landscape materials are:
Stone, concrete and ceramics
Timber is also occasionally used
Metal is rarely used

The predominant colours have a sunbleached look:
White, or earthy shades such as terracotta and sandstone are popular.
Splashes of bright colours such as brilliant blues are used for contrast.

Typically these gardens don't have lawns (or only small patches of lawn). Lawns need lots of water in summer, which is the driest time of year in most Mediterranean climates. Instead ground surfaces are paved or covered with gravel.

Best plants for mediterranian atyle:
1.Olives
2.Citrus
3.Lavender
4.Gazanias
5.Rosemary
6.Roses
7.Geraniums
8.Cistus
9.Grapes
10.Bay tree
11.lilac
12.Cypress
13.Pomegranates
14.Oleanders
