where does tree pollen come from? and Ficinia nodosa inflorescence

where does tree pollen come from?

My friend and I are having an argument, he says trees can only produce pollen if they have flowers on them, i disagree.

Cone bearing gymnosperm also produce pollen. The conifers (pine, cedar, yew) have small male pollen producing cones.

Not all angiosperm have obvious floral structures. Grasses release pollen as do the tassel-like male catkins in poplars or alder trees.

Grass inflorescences 'flowers' have pollen producing anthers. This include the 50 foot tall bamboo species.
